About the event With Sharon Smithem CLASS CONTENT • Start with the basics tools • Learning about the color wheel and mixing paints. • Photographing your images • How to draw from your reference and create good composition • Using pen and ink techniques • Applying your watercolors • Researching and lettering your flower descriptions • Creating several drawings and paintings • Final project large botanical painting with descriptions • Next Level -Going on to creating your own notecards

Supply List Watercolor paper sketchbook 140# cold press/300gsm 5.5"x8.5" or 8"x11" or larger Paper Towel Pencils: HB + kneaded eraser Pens: Master's Touch Graphic pen set Size .01, .03 .05 Brushes : watercolor brush #3, #1, #8 Paints : Windsor Newton Cotman pocket set 12 colors Round Tray for mixing paint Small cup for water Any bag or box that can fit all of the above supplies *Remember all these supplies will be traveling with you out in the field SHE LEARNED TO STRIVE FOR PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION Class minimum is 5, class maximum is 12. We are open Tuesday’s through Saturdays from 10:00 – 6:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 – 3:00 p.m. We accept check, cash or card. If you prefer you can mail a check to the Boyne Arts Center at the above address make sure to note on the check the class you are signing up for. Cancelation Policy: Request to cancel class must be made at least 7 days in advance prior to the start of class. Additionally, we will not be refunding or offering make up sessions for classes missed due to being absent. Please do not come to class if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID, or have recently tested positive.

Dates, Times & Cost: (This is a 5 Week Class) Wednesday : 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Session 1 - 9/21/ 22 Session 2 – 9/28/22 Session 3 – 10/5/22 Session 4 – 10/12/22 Session 5 - 10/19/22 Cost: $150.00 for Members $165.00 for Non-Members "I have always been an artist my entire life, painting, drawing , studying in school, continuing to Kendall Collage of Art &Design for college. Majoring in illustration. That takes me to painting several large format outdoor and indoor murals for public and private avenues. Moving on to other mediums such as stained -glass and glass - mosaic murals. I’ve always loved learning different techniques in art. I started teaching in art centers and for private individuals. I enjoy teaching others what I have learned and love to see your process and progress as you learn. I recently illustrated a children’s book , it was a pleasure and a new learning experience"
